Dear Parents and Carers,
I cannot believe this year is finishing today. What a great year it has been, and much of that has been down to you. We say goodbye to our Year 6 children. They have been fantastic and are a credit to you as well as themselves. They were my first Reception class so I have seen them all the way through their time at Betty Layward and what a privilege that has been. Their performance of the Wizard of Oz was amazing and such a lovely way to say goodbye to them. I wish them all well for their next journey at Secondary school. Each school is lucky to have them. Well done Year 6. Keep shining.
Thank you for all your support. I am so lucky to be the headteacher of such a lovely school with such a great community. You run and help at events, you donate via direct debit as well as many other great ways of supporting us. Thank you. It means a lot.
We have a new catering company in September. We are really looking forward to working with them. They are called Fuel for Learning and their food is delicious and sourced locally. All lunches (apart from nursery) are free next year so I do hope you will encourage the children to have school lunches and take up this offer.
Well done to the PTFA and Project Renovate. The good news is we are halfway to the amount needed for the decoration. As it’s hard to find time to get all those classrooms decorated and re-floored we are having the work done this summer. We need to definitely raise the other half now. We are also having the sail shades installed in the holidays. This is exciting as it will offer more shade to our children while they play.
Thank you for the 20ps today. We raised £908.50. This will go towards Project Renovate. Year 4 raised the moved the most money by raising £409 as a year group. Both classes received £20 to spend as they wish in Year 5.
We have so much to look forward to next year. The Opal playground project starts in September and we will be providing the children with different opportunities at lunchtime. The new curriculum is in place and going well. It is a joy listening to the children talk about their learning and using the vocabulary linked to the subject areas.
I am sure you will join me in saying a huge thank you to all the staff. They are caring, hardworking and dedicated and a pleasure to work with. We are lucky to have such a great team at Betty Layward.
Your children are amazing. They make me smile every day. Their behaviour, including their learning behaviour, is exemplary. They are wonderful to spend time with. Thank you for giving us the privilege of sending your child to Betty Layward. We really love having them. I hope you have a really lovely summer.
